Our Mission
Bronx Charter School for the Arts is a public elementary school founded on the principle that arts education is a catalyst for the academic and social success of all students. Located in the South Bronx, we serve as a model that encourages reform and innovation in the broader public school system..
Upon graduation, our students demonstrate excellence in all academic subject areas and have a unique foundation of learning and experience in the arts. Bronx Arts students possess the intellectual and emotional fortitude to realize their dreams and overcome adversity.
Our School-wide Goals
In December 2009, Bronx Arts was awarded a five-year renewal of its charter. We are both proud of New York State’s endorsement of our work and grateful for the opportunity to build on our past successes. As part of our new charter, we have outlined several objectives to help bring us to our overall GOAL of Proficiency for All.
- Increase student performance on state and internal exams to exceed 90% proficiency
- Develop programs and initiatives that will help our students learn to conduct themselves in a respectful manner exuding confidence, competence, and control
- Enhance student learning experiences and opportunities through the use of discipline-based arts instruction and arts integration programming
- Enhance teaching and learning through the use of technology
