Kathleen grew up in Philadelphia where she began working with children with special needs at a young age. She attended Temple University and graduated with honors after pursuing a degree in Early, Elementary and Special Education. While at Temple, Kathleen was awarded the Excellence in Teaching Math and Science Award and was one of five individuals nominated for Student Teacher of the Year. Among many accomplishments Kathleen had while at Temple, one of her proudest is the role she had in opening of Harrison After School Program to serve the needs of the local community. After graduating college, Kathleen began teaching children with a variety of special needs in the School District of Philadelphia. In 2005, Kathleen moved up the New Jersey Turnpike when she found out she was given the opportunity to take a position as a 4th grade Learning Specialist at Bronx Arts. Since then, Kathleen has served the Bronx Arts Community as a 1st and 2nd grade learning specialist and classroom teacher.
