Bronx Charter School for the Arts is a public elementary school founded on the principle that a rich and vibrant background in the arts is a key component of achieving academic excellence. We strive to serve as a model that encourages creativity and innovation in the classroom and inspires students to develop the intellectual and personal fortitude to realize their dreams.

Bronx Arts was awarded a five-year renewal of its charter. As part of our new charter, we have outlined several objectives to help bring us to our overall GOAL of Proficiency for All. To help us reach that goal, we are seeking to fill the following roles:

Bronx Arts is in its 15th year of operation serving students in Hunts Point and Soundview areas of the Bronx. Having been awarded the fourth renewal of its charter, the board of Bronx Arts has determined that at this point in time it is important for the organization to recommit to its artistic mission.

 

Who You Are

+ An outstanding classroom teacher who holds scholars to consistently high behavioral and academic expectations.

+ A results-driven educator with experience in, and commitment to, the use of data analysis and assessments to drive instructional decisions and teacher accountability.

+ A graduate of a Bachelor’s degree program (required), with 2 years of urban teaching experience and state certification (preferred).

 

What You’ll Do

+ Develop and teach clear and engaging lessons in your content that follow the rigorous Common Core aligned Bronx Arts curriculum

+ Differentiate small group instruction for students with special needs and provide individual or small group instruction for students who require additional academic support

+ Develop and use a variety of assessment data to refine curricula and instructional practices.

+ Communicate effectively and maintain strong relationships with scholars, families, and colleagues.

+ Continuously improve your professional practice through grade-level meetings, weekly coaching sessions, data-driven reflection and professional development, including an annual summer institute.

+ Build a warm and inclusive classroom environment, implementing the practices of Responsive Classroom

+ Support the social, emotional and cognitive development of adolescent children.

 

Compensation

Compensation packages are competitive and commensurate with experience. Benefits include: Health, Paid Time-Off, Short-term Disability, Life Insurance, Commuter Benefit Program.
